Reanimation for Southpark’s Dinner Menu

Nestled on a favorite fashionable street of downtown Helsinki — just adjacent to the Sinebrychoff Art Museum and park — Southpark Restaurant snagged the perfect location to provide a fully pleasing sensory experience. Already a popular lunch and brunch destination, Southpark has established itself as a hot culinary spot for casual atmosphere and stellar service. With Head Chef Chris Drake at the helm, Southpark has transformed itself from brunch & lunch into a satisfying, moderately-priced dining experience.

Southpark’s Head Chef Chris Drake

Drake was born and raised outside Detroit, Michigan and has lived in Helsinki for over 11 years. With his culinary expertise spanning over 15 years, and many extensive hours working in popular eateries in Helsinki, Drake took the reigns as Head Chef of Southpark. With a slightly limited kitchen he managed to design a short and efficient dinner menu that presents comforting, palate-pleasing bites.

Asian notes infuse American classics — like the hoisin-glazed burger — which is simply one of the best burgers in town. Other American classics like sweet potato fries are lightly tossed in bacon salt and topped with truffle, stealing the show with their eloquent delivery. Additionally, a short wine list and drink selection compliments the dishes nicely, allowing for quick decisions without wasting time.

Sin of the Sea

Sin of the Sea – chorizo-infused muscles in a mouth watering sauce.

I Scream – chocolate crumble with house-made ice cream, garnished with salt and olive oil.

Go Bananas – vegan “ice cream” with caramel & brûlée…something I would order again considering I’m NOT vegan!

The rolling hills of Sinebrychoff Park are enough to get people flocking to Southpark. The fact that the inviting view is paired with well-executed dishes and a vibrant staff, makes the whole experience that much more intimate and enjoyable. I was delighted to see how Drake has transformed this space into something worth returning for.
